The world's largest butterfly, the butterfly atlas (Attacus
atlas) of the order Lepidoptera, was immortalized recently on a road in
north-eastern India.
The creature with a wingspan up to 1 foot (30 cm) was
photographed by Sandesh Kadur. He testified that
the butterfly seemed
unusual, even it wanted to attack him, opening its wings and taking a defensive
position. Leaving aside fear, Kadur managed to photograph it. Zoologistssay
that those who will go to Asia and meet such huge butterflies should not be
afraid, because they are harmless. The insect has a mouth onlypartly formed and
survives from the fat accumulated as caterpillar (larvae). The butterfly
atlas lives up to two weeks. The largest
butterfly on earth is unstable in flight and donʹt fly too far. His only goal
in life is the perpetuation of the species. These butterflies live in tropical
and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia and the Malaysian archipelago. The
experts say that the butterflies atlas use their wings to intimidateenemies and
have similar colors as venomous creatures such as frogs and wasps.
