Researchers at NASA have revealed that the world does not
end in 2012, on December 21, as some people have speculated quoting Maya
prophecies. Less is known that a famous scientist made a prediction concerning
the end of time.
He is one of the greatest scientists in history, Isaac Newton,
who revolutionized physics, mathematics and
astronomy, formulating the law of
universal gravitation and the three laws of dynamics. Not everyone knows that
Newton was also an erudite scholar who made efforts to study meticulously the
Bible. The scientist believed in God strongly, saying His existence cannot be
contested because His creation is so great. The University of Cambridge
analyzed and deciphered his writings and a total of 7,500 pages of manuscripts
are available in digital format. Thus, it was discovered the unusual prediction
about the end times. In 1704, the physicist has calculated, reading the Bible,
that the end of the world would occur in 2060. Newton claims to have discovered
the key to his theory in the book of Daniel, the Old Testament. He wrote that
1260 years must pass from restored of The Roman Empire by Charlemagne (Charles the
Great, king of the Franks from 768 until his death, and founder of Carolingian
Empire), in 800 AD, until the Apocalypse, which would take place in 2060.
Though he is better known for his love of science, the Bible was another
passion of Sir Isaac Newton and he said in it are written the divine laws of
the universe. He devoted many hours studying the sacred texts. His archives
came to Cambridge, following the decision of his descendants, 150 years after
his death. We must not forget that the New Testament says explicitly: the date
of the end of the world is not known to anyone but God, not even Jesus Christ
(Matthew 24: 36).
